Bryce Carter, Community Organizer. Monday, December 22, 2014. Sustainable Cities, Google, and the NSA: The Role of Metadata. A screen capture of Google's geo-mapping of my cell phone metadata. Ever wonder how Google Maps Traffic gets so specific, with red lines guaranteeing delays as you rush around town for last-minute holiday shopping? Google Map's Traffic Map for the Denver region. For longer term thinking- ask why are people commuting across the city there? Information is power, and power can create ...

Bryce Carter, Community Organizer: April 2013
http://blog.brycecarter.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Bryce Carter, Community Organizer. Thursday, April 25, 2013. So, if I were to write a book this is how I would begin it. Prologue - I’m Coming Home. I’m coming home, I’m coming home. Tell the World I’m coming home. Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday. I know my kingdom awaits and they’ve forgiven my mistakes. I’m coming home, I’m coming home. Tell the World I’m coming. I’m coming home. I’m coming home. Tell the world I’m coming home. Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday. I easily...

Bryce Carter, Community Organizer: 4/16, Compassion, and Intersectionality
http://blog.brycecarter.com/2015/04/416-compassion-and-intersectionality.html
Bryce Carter, Community Organizer. Tuesday, April 14, 2015. 4/16, Compassion, and Intersectionality. 4/16 is a deeply engraved date in the Virginia Tech Community, like 9/11 was for the United States and world. Except instead of thinking it as 4/16, as those who were in our community do, the world calls what the community in Blacksburg, Virginia experienced that horrid day in 2007 as the "Virginia Tech Massacre.". Here are two points I found myself reflecting on:. The shooter, for the first few days afte...

Bryce Carter, Community Organizer: The Tragedy of the Housing Commons
http://blog.brycecarter.com/2015/04/the-tragedy-of-housing-commons.html
Bryce Carter, Community Organizer. Sunday, April 19, 2015. The Tragedy of the Housing Commons. During my extensive traveling for Green Corps. I came across and fell in love with the city of Denver. I had to move to the Mile High City and was fortunate enough to be offered a position there with the Sierra Club. Appreciating the security of inheritance from my father's death. Several months earlier, I decided to splurge and rent a two-story studio apartment for about $1,150 per month in the fall of 2011.

Bryce Carter, Community Organizer. Sunday, May 27, 2012. The Death of my Father. I got the call from my sister while I was doing door-to-door canvassing. My father was in the hospital. There was a bit of a reassurance in her voice. My dad was in the hospital a lot, usually for appointments, though sometimes for medical scares. This is just another time. I always wondered what it would be like to throw a baseball around with him, or build that homemade go-kart like he promised. My father’s health wa...

Bryce Carter, Community Organizer: June 2012

Bryce Carter, Community Organizer. Sunday, June 3, 2012. Talking about the End of the World as we Know it. Most of the time people are on the edge of their seat, never having heard of the issue I speak of, and are asking me a million questions a minute to go further. On a rare occasion, though, that initial interest turns ugly when I explore the interconnectedness of an issue. And (if we really wanted to) have a pet glow-in-the-dark-cat. What might be around the corner? How will it change our values?
