Just enjoying life… One word at a time. Many things that we do in life, we take for granted. For instance… Breathing, smelling, being able to look around and see, to jump, to walk, to laugh. Many of these things we take for granted. This week, I have learnt to appreciate the ability to EAT! I got my wisdom teeth removed on Wednesday, and have been unable to eat solid foods since then. Monday, September 27, 2010. Busy, Busy, Busy! Holidays are supposed to be a time of excitement and relaxing. We have the first bit under control, the excitement is building in our household until we are all nearly at bursting point! Our family arrive from the eastern states on Wednesday. Sometimes one wonders how much these brain injured children understand of the world. of course, their world is a very 'closed' one, as in Richard's case, it is his family, home and school. He hardly ventures out as Mum is 'too busy' to bring him out to 'the world'. Friday, February 4, 2011. GONG XI FA CAI. Didn't realise it's been a good 6 months since our last post! Lots has happened.that's why the incommunicado. To fast forward, Richard starts daily school this year. He was attending mon/ wed/ fri for the last 2 years. We were worried he'd not be used to the rigour of daily school but somehow seems to be able to wake up in the mornings and actually stay awake during school hours! Thursday, October 11, 2012. But then I would take a deep breathe, have a cry and remember that I am just "stuck in a moment". I would think of Ali's Mum and the loss and devastation she was feeling and how she would give anything and everything to be able to hold her baby one more time and I would let " that moment " pass. Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Yesterday was a complete nightmare! I realised things weren't quite going to my plan when the Dr came and asked if she could shut our door because Tom was screaming so much and she couldn't hear the Dr's from PMH on the phone. I asked her if she was talking to them about Tom and she said she was! This was not the news I was after. Sunday, January 24, 2010. After 2 n half weeks of not doing the ABR MANUAL excercises, Richard's joints seemed stiff. Although the machine was used regularly 12 - 15 hours/ day it wasn't enough to 'stimulate' the whole body and loosen up the joints. Applying the manual excercises takes time and patience, (besides skill), which none of us have at home except for Marita! So when she went on Home leave, we didnt do any of it! Richard is just so happy to have Marita back! Well, so are we! Richard's caregiver...
