Woodscapes - Fine Furniture by Brian Peters
Technique
http://www.woodscapes.ca/technique.html
The primary materials that I use in my furniture are local hardwoods of high figure, such as Sugar Maple, Yellow Birch and Beech. Other local hardwoods include Red Maple, White Birch, Red Oak, White Ash, Elm, and Black Cherry. Most of these are kiln dried, but I have used wood air dried for at least six years. I like to make it obvious how a piece of furniture is held together. I do this by using joinery in a highly visible manner, with the scale and orientation of the joints resolving the weight of ...
The Story
http://www.woodscapes.ca/thestory.html
Margaree Environment and Community. Woodscapes" describes my relationship with the forest and the way I feel about wood. The figure, colour and quality of local and exotic timbers join with the utilitarian needs and aesthetic desires of my clients to challenge and direct me through the design and production of fine furniture. The creation of fine furniture, from concept to completion, is my medium for expression, my humble effort at harnessing the splendor of wood and producing beautiful tools for living.

I am flexible in the design process and can accommodate most clients schedules and preferences. However, unless I already have what you are looking for, a minimum of six months should be allowed for design, construction, and delivery. The following information is needed before I can propose a design and esimate:. I appropriate size and quantity. Iv your time frame. Upon ...

WOODWORKS: Custom spice cabinet
http://morrisonwoodworks.blogspot.com/2014/02/custom-spice-cabinet.html
Friday, February 7, 2014. I just finished this custom cabinet for holding and displaying spice jars. This is salvaged elm from the Sydney area. At one time this wood was headed for the splitter and the stove. The back is pine. I was really pleased to be asked to make this piece as a gift for a local artist. Im so in love with this style of wood! March 10, 2014 at 8:18 PM. Every word of this blog is very helpful for everyone. Thanks for sharing these tips. February 22, 2016 at 5:37 AM.

WOODWORKS: August 2008
http://morrisonwoodworks.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 24, 2008. Saturday, August 9, 2008. Here's a pair of doors made of reclaimed douglas fir and new pine. The douglas fir frames are of mortise and tenon construction with floating pine panels and glass inserts. The panels are textured with a scrub plane for a nice tactile effect. WOODWORKS: May 2008
http://morrisonwoodworks.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 21, 2008. About a month ago I had not one, but two James Krenov smooting planes in my shop. One belongs to me and the other to my good friend Tom Fidgen (follow the link in the sidebar to his excellent blog). I've been meaning to write a comparison of the performance and specs of the two planes but I haven't gotten there yet! In the meantime (probably shouldn't hold your breath) here are a few shots of the similar but very different Krenovs. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

WOODWORKS: June 2008
http://morrisonwoodworks.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 24, 2008. That's me standing in the machine room right in front of the new doors. but before any of that happens I have to smash out that darn chimney! Saturday, June 21, 2008. There are a few more things I'll use in the frame cutting process. These will most likely include a large (16-5/8". no kidding) circular saw, a western style crosscut saw, an electric plane and my trusty belt sander. But hey, they're not nearly as photogenic as that beautiful Barr Slick eh? Thursday, June 19, 2008.

http://morrisonwoodworks.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 23, 2008. Since my woodworking life is now completely taken up with the task of cutting all the joinery for the timberframe home I'm building I might as well post some pictures of the process here. Here are some shots of the progression of a dovetail in one of the main floor joists as well as a pic of the massive circular saw I have for squaring timbers and roughing out some of the joinery.
