Whether you are sliding into the New Year like the Germans, wishing a prosperous New Year like the Mexicans, or greeting the New Year in another language, I hope your 2007 is a happy one! Saturday, September 03, 2005. Friday was a very interesting exercise in international relations. Our group of 20 visited the German Defense Ministry. Though the Americans asked questions about the future of conscription in the German military and long term strategy, the Russian fellows were most interested in why NATO still exists and more importantly why it is expanding towards Russia. As many already know, NATO is my favorite international organization (let the geek jokes begin! Posted by Erin @ 4:37 PM.

Tuesday, October 18, 2005. In a land far, far away from the sterile conference rooms of DC think tanks, a young American entered the Green Salon of the Volksbuehne (People’s Theater) in Berlin. Stuffed green couches, green lounge chairs and 1920’s-style chandeliers decorated the room. Cigarette smoke hung in the air, illuminated by the theater lights. An eclectic mix of Berliners nursed their first drinks of the evening. Posted by Erin @ 12:13 PM. View my complete profile. Erica Goes to Kenya.

Thursday, October 06, 2005. As many people are aware, I watched WAY too much reality television in the US. You name it: Survivor, the Amazing Race, Princes of Malibu, The Osbournes, Newlyweds. I think I saw everything at least once. I hoped I would break my terrible habit in Germany. Germany has lots of public television with documentaries and variety shows with lederhosen-wearing singers, right? Well yes, this is true. But Germany is also not lacking in the reality programming department. So there you h...

Friday, October 14, 2005. Since I was negligent in posting this week, here are a collection of my thoughts and observations:. 1 For the bargain price of 3000 euros, you can buy your very own gold-leaf keyboard and mouse from KaDeWe. 2 My grocery store sells strawberry shortcake flavored yogurt- Delicious! 3 I am happy to report that the trend of wearing brightly colored jeans seems to be over in Berlin! New York Adventures: September 2006
http://newyorkadventures.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 28, 2006. How do you define an adventure? Does it involve travel, work or perhaps romance? Adventures in Europe took many twists and turns in all those areas. Unfortunately, New York adventures are off to a more mundane start. The apartment search currently ranks in the top three of my life frustrations. Commuting is also not so thrilling, though I have been fascinated by the people I have encountered. (Can I be a professional people-watcher? Who offers laundry advice on the subway?

Saturday, August 27, 2005. I arrived in Bonn yesterday and am enjoying being in Germany again. This does not mean that I am not mildly freaking out about my decision to move to Germany, but as long as I am living in the moment I am having a great time. I've already had my first scoop of ice cream, first falafel sandwich and paid for my first grocery bag! The hotel is great (pictures to come tomorrow) and the weather is in the high 60's-low 70's! Erin's observations of the day:. Who has a salt sale? Track...
