UK goes back in time, starts rationing. May 14th, 2007 at 5:11 PM. After weeks of what feels like limbo, we started to see some positive change in bristol this week. Some of PM Brown's headline policies from his confirmation speech. Startled to trickle in. Ummm" the postman said. "Is Mr Grossman in? Yeah," I said, stepping back to call up the stairs. "Greg! There's some people here to see you.". The Policeman stepped forward and put a hand on my shoulder. You don't live here, do you? His eyebrows shot up.

Oil Hits $4.00 And I Feel Fine - wwo_mordy

News Items from the Heights. Oil Hits $4.00 And I Feel Fine - wwo mordy. 30 April 2007 @ 02:10 am. Oil Hits $4.00 And I Feel Fine. My neighbor, who drives from Washington Heights over the bridge and into Jersey (what a shlep, right? But I commiserated over the prices. He's carpooling now, which is a good thing, I think. Bring everyone closer together. Also, it'll teach my neighbor what I go through when I take the subway in the morning at rush hour (try not getting a seat for an hour). On a personal note...

A time for heroes. - happycube. 03 September 2007 @ 11:00 am. A time for heroes. The Labor Day party's in a few hours yet, so I bounced onto IRC and had a nice conversation with some cool people, including. On LJ some of what's ahead is paraphrased from them, others me. Annoying conservationists, but nobody dares speak up too much about it. Baltpiker brought up this. Relocation camp that his great-grandparents were kept in during WW2. About 120,000 people - over 80,000 of them native-born US citizens.

A lack of food and an overabundance of trouble - miawithoutoil

A lack of food and an overabundance of trouble. May 13th, 2007 at 6:10 PM. I've watched in horror at the reports coming in from the world via wwo the last few weeks. The US seems to be falling apart so fast, with all the shootings and riots and blackouts. It's been so much quieter in the UK that I assumed we were ok, that it wasn't as bad. I made a mistake. And there's going to have to be a massive rethink if we're to feed the 60 million people that call Great Britain their home. We can still get food bu...

My Crazy Neighbor - wwo_mordy

News Items from the Heights. My Crazy Neighbor - wwo mordy. 01 May 2007 @ 05:31 am. You're not going to believe this. Remember when I said my neighbor has started waking up very early in order to get to work in time? My mouth must've hung out a little, because he looked put off and asked me what was wrong. Obviously I indicated the drums of oil and he laughed. Seems he got involved in some speculative investments, and he figures that if the information I've been telling him is right, he should st...Plus,...

News Items from the Heights. Guns in the City - wwo mordy. 01 May 2007 @ 12:42 am. Guns in the City. If I had a shiny gun / I could have a world of fun.". May 1st. Second night of the Oil Crisis. So, is this thing going to get worse? Let's assume it is. Let's assume that Escape from New York, and other great B-List action movies about escaping New York City, are prophetic. Let's assume that fairly soon, maybe within a couple weeks, this powder keg of a city might esplode. 8 comments Leave a comment.

The world isn't all bad - but what can I do in it? - miawithoutoil
http://miawithoutoil.livejournal.com/2426.html
The world isn't all bad - but what can I do in it? May 10th, 2007 at 3:49 PM. Things seem to be calming down a bit here. There's been some trouble in the poorer areas of Bristol like St Pauls and Montpellier, but mostly people are hanging together. The hifi shops and fast food outlets are still going out of business but people seem to have absorbed some of the shock and started continuing their lives at this new level of living. It's similar to that which. Still, I think it's like. I don't know what I wa...

Our first ration shop, and dad's silly reaction to it all. May 15th, 2007 at 7:05 PM. After weeks of silence, a ring from dad. and an announcement that he's thinking of leaving the country. Hey Mia," he said as I answered. Just thought I'd check in and see how you all were after this bloody fascist attack on our liberties," he said, cheerfully. We've had some similar incidents to English Village. But the sight of them all being marched off to Temple Meads station is a little too 'Children of Men'. So we ...
