Your baby eats WHAT?!

Monday, July 11, 2011. Did I say she was off fresh peaches? She seems to have had second thoughts about that. Peaches are a go! Dinner last night was Israeli couscous with caramelized onions, chanterelles, bacon, cream, and parmesan. It went over well, but the couscous gets everywhere. Mae really enjoys saying "couscous", though (but who doesn't? Friday, July 8, 2011. About time for an update? Yes, I think so too. Frozen peas, straight from the freezer. Your baby eats WHAT?!: August 2010

http://yourbabyeatswhat.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Rotini with Tuna and Garlic baby led weaning recipe. And Mae loved it. I think Mae loves anything with garlic in it. 1 1/2 c. tricolor rotini. 1 can tuna in olive oil. 1 tsp additional olive oil (optional). 3 cloves garlic, minced. Cook your rotini in unsalted water until tender and drain (unsalted for the sake of the infant in question; you can add salt to yours later if you want, it'll be fine. Really.). Messiness rating: 2 (2-3 wipes). Monday, August 30, 2010. Fine, but she.

Friday, July 8, 2011. About time for an update? Yes, I think so too. We've been eating our way happily through the months. I don't have a new recipe for you today, but I do want to share the sorts of things that Mae has been enjoying lately, in case you're interested and just to help my own memory a bit. We got an insulated snack case. And it's been wonderful. Also for taking supplementary meal items when going out to eat. Yesterday I made a quick tuna and black-eyed pea salad with finely chopped...I als...

Your baby eats WHAT?!: April 2011

Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Peanut butter shortbread recipe. 1 stick (4 oz) butter, room temperature. 1/3 c natural peanut butter (no added salt or sugar). 2 Tbs sugar (possibly optional, but I haven't tried leaving it out completely yet). 1 c whole wheat pastry flour. 1/4 c All Purpose flour. Pinch of salt (optional). And cut it into wedges when it's done. Gonna try it with cashew or almond butter next. Or maybe pistachio! Sunday, April 17, 2011. Have I mentioned how much I love 101Cookbooks. Because I d...

Your baby eats WHAT?!: Sweet Potatoes Mayai recipe for baby-led weaning

http://yourbabyeatswhat.blogspot.com/2010/09/sweet-potatoes-mayai-recipe-for-baby.html

Thursday, September 30, 2010. Sweet Potatoes Mayai recipe for baby-led weaning. My main discovery is that if you grate things directly into your frying pan, they cook quickly and you save time on cleanup. I am gonna be doing this with everything from now on. Well, really just potatoes or squash. Maybe carrots. Still! I eat a lot of potatoes and squash! So it's a useful technique! 2 Tbs olive oil. 2 medium sweet potatoes. Ground black pepper to taste. 1 tsp dried thyme. Your favorite pepper sauce. The Adv...

Baby-led Weaning: Munch Brunch

http://babyledweaningoz.blogspot.com/2010/09/munch-brunch.html

One mum's trials and triumphs in feeding finger food first. Saturday, September 4, 2010. I have had some very successful brunch experiences out with the little boss over the last week that I'd like to share with you. Unfortunately, so consuming was the constant-ness of our dates that I failed to take a photo (see last para for why). Not wanting to leave a post pic-free, here's a shot of Mae in her retro jumper from Grandma and Grandpa:. Now, back to brunch. Ditto sultanas (brought as Mae's hors d'oeuvres).

Baby-led Weaning: Dirty little secret

http://babyledweaningoz.blogspot.com/2010/10/dirty-little-secret.html

One mum's trials and triumphs in feeding finger food first. Monday, October 4, 2010. Meanwhile, Mae scoffed her cream cheese and tomato sandwich, wiping it across her ears, elbows and the table top (collecting the previous occupant's debris as she went). The obligatory mandarin that followed drenched her sleeves and orange bits found their way up her nose. Nine wipes later, we. Let's see those Orangesleeves in more detail:. Now I sound like a bad eighties ad for washing powder. Posted by Baby-led Mum.

Baby-led Weaning: Kangaroo court

http://babyledweaningoz.blogspot.com/2010/09/kangaroo-court.html

One mum's trials and triumphs in feeding finger food first. Monday, September 20, 2010. Judge Mae tried kangaroo in the highchair court yesterday, and the verdict? Guilty of liking it. Loads. She has definitely chewed meat with gusto. Before, but this was the first time she followed sucking and chewing with actual swallowing. In fact as soon as it was softened and devoid of goodness, she just swallowed the whole thing with one enormous gulp. Posted by Baby-led Mum. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Baby-led Weaning: Bad egg

http://babyledweaningoz.blogspot.com/2010/10/bad-egg.html

One mum's trials and triumphs in feeding finger food first. Friday, October 8, 2010. I must admit Mae has inadvertently become a creature of habit over recent days. My imagination seems to have narrowed to the size of a petit pois when it comes to thinking of meals, and so it's been pasta bows with Rafferty's Garden puree and cottage cheese or ricotta stirred in, served with some lamb or kangaroo with a side of either broccoli or cauliflower. Followed by watermelon and a yoghurt. After flinging it around...

Baby-led Weaning: Fritter critters

http://babyledweaningoz.blogspot.com/2010/08/fritter-critters.html

One mum's trials and triumphs in feeding finger food first. Sunday, August 29, 2010. Individual lumps of steamed vegetables are boring Mae senseless, so I'm continuing down the path to us all eating the same thing at quite a speed. Today I made some fritters - pumpkin, pea and feta fritters to be precise. I followed this recipe. But just added some feta (AKA salt). They took about 20 mins total and we all had them for dinner - now that's my kind of chefery! Or was that just me? How much is too much?

One mum's trials and triumphs in feeding finger food first. Tuesday, September 7, 2010. Actually, this post is about butter beans. *See below for an explanation of the title. So, back to lunch. I'm trying to tick so many boxes with each meal now:. Protein, good fats, carbs and non-nuked vegetables must be present. Not too much salt. Not too much processed stuff or E numbers. Chris and I must be able to eat it for our dinner too. It will not take more than 20 mins to cook. And I've just added another one:.

Baby-led Weaning: Tuna tempter?

http://babyledweaningoz.blogspot.com/2010/07/tuna-tempter.html

One mum's trials and triumphs in feeding finger food first. Saturday, July 10, 2010. Looks like I should have named the last post "ear we don't go" as our flight to England has had to be postponed because of poor Mae's ear infection! Delicious, Mum". Good, cos there's nothing else. And she loves it! Her nap was particularly long today so it's been at least 3hrs since her last breastfeed when I give her lunch so I think she is quite hungry. She actually eats the entire thing. http://babyledweaningoz.blogspot.com/2010/09/nuffin-muffin.html

One mum's trials and triumphs in feeding finger food first. Thursday, September 16, 2010. Sometimes I amaze myself with my own dexterity. Not only have I learnt to tidy up with my toes since having Mae, but yesterday I baked savoury muffins one-handed. The effect on my stress levels of her increasingly panicky whinge (think the vuvuzela. For an approximate sound) meant that the scene would have looked like a poor man's Ready, Steady, Cook! I followed this recipe. Posted by Baby-led Mum. My baby girl is 5...
