Haizea - An Open Source VM-based Lease Manager

Haizea is currently developed by Borja Sotomayor. A PhD candidate at the University of Chicago. The Haizea system is the brainchild of Borja Sotomayor, Kate Keahey. The design and main ideas behind the Haizea system were first presented in the paper Combining Batch Execution and Leasing Using Virtual Machines. HPDC, 2008), co-authored by Borja, Kate, and Ian. Haizea was originally funded, from 2006 to 2008, by NSF grant #509408 "Virtual Playgrounds" as part of the Globus Virtual Workspaces.

We invite professionals working in information technology to make presentations about the technology they or their colleagues use. We also host occasional game nights and contests. Our regular meetings with presentations are in the afternoon of the second Thursday of months September, October, November, February, March and April. There are no membership fees to join ACM.
