Gone Pishing: March 2014
http://gonepishing.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, 2 March 2014. Today I took a trip up to Namran to bird the coastal forest near the Russian border and hopefully find some wintering woodland birds. The woods are quite extensive and at this time of year devoid of people although the well worn paths and cafes closed for winter suggested that isn't always the case. The shore and sea were almost devoid of birds except for a few LWHG's but the mixed deciduous woodlands were fairly lively. Commonest birds were great tit. And a couple of jackdaw. Hajig...

Birding for a Lark: May 2015
http://birdingforalark.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
My Libyan list (182). Occasional birds in depth. My Saudi list (333) and targets. My Oman list (331). Thursday, 28 May 2015. Work is very busy at them moment so most birding is very local to home as this takes up less time. Jarziz farm is one of the closest sites. I have been visiting regularly not only because it is close but also to study the Amur falcon. Making their way through as much as I can before they are all gone for another season. They have not been the only birds of prey present. One of the ...

http://birdingforalark.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-very-hot-day-near-muscat.html
My Libyan list (182). Occasional birds in depth. My Saudi list (333) and targets. My Oman list (331). Monday, 18 May 2015. A very hot day near Muscat. I have had a bad cold for the last week and coupling that with my faithful old camera finally breaking, I have had to rest up for a few days. I now have a backlog of blogs to post but some good birds in places to report. A very young Hume's wheatear. Had been attracted to the shade. Young Hume's wheatear 2. In hot weather, birds continually hold their mout...

Gone Pishing: May 2013
http://gonepishing.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Friday, 31 May 2013. More avocets from Norfolk. You want some more avocet photos? Oh go on then. Thursday, 30 May 2013. Titchwell RSPB Reserve, Norfolk. Titchwell RSPB reserve is similar to nearby Cley reserve. Freshwater lagoons give way to brackish and salt lagoons closer to the sea but unlike Cley it also has a woodland area. A male blackbird in the woodland area. The rarer birds were represented by three little gull. On the brackish lagoon and single eider duck. Belated addition to my world list.

Gone Pishing: February 2014
http://gonepishing.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Friday, 28 February 2014. Although I didn't get out as much as I would have liked in February I did add Finsch's wheatear and white-tailed eagle to my life list which is now 1,025. My Azerbaijan list now stands at 129 although my year list is still a very slow 104. Bird of the month has to be the obliging white-tailed eagle that posed for photos on some ice at Red Lake. Sunday, 16 February 2014. Gobustan and the coast. South again and a couple of Azerbaijan ticks. First was r ed-crested pochard. I drove ...
