Wednesday, 4 April 2012. Getting Excited About Science. We are very lucky to have the "Science Outreach Programme" alongside our Science Programme. The Scientists are from Otago University and they get children excited about learning and investigating Science. This is our Shared Writing:. The scientists helped us to mix up the cabbage to get the colour out of it. It went red. Then we put acid in and it changed the colours. Written by Room 2. Look at the change in colours! Thursday, 1 March 2012. New Life Begins - Life Cycle of the Monarch. We have been looking at the life cycle of the Monarch Butterfly. We have been observing the caterpillar and looking at parts of the body. We made our own caterpillars and made some symmetrical butterflies. Here are some facts that we learnt:. A butterfly has four stages in it's life cycle. A butterfly has tiny scales. A caterpillar and a butterfly has a head, abdomen and a thorax. A caterpillar can molt and get rid of it's old skin.
