What's Cooking with Joni

What's Cooking with Joni. Writing Class with Joni. Saturday, December 28, 2013. Turning off the Stove for Awhile. I love cooking and tinkering with recipes. And I've loved sharing some of the recipes I've created, which have won cooking contests. But I'm also a writer, and I have several plays, books, and musicals tugging at my sleeve. So I’ve had to make a hard choice. I’m taking a break from the "Cooking with Joni" and the "Writing Class with Joni" portions of this blog. New videos are posted here.

What's Cooking with Joni: August 2013

http://www.cookingwithjoni.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

What's Cooking with Joni. Writing Class with Joni. Monday, August 26, 2013. I wish I had a nickel for everyone who says Creme Brulee is their favorite dessert. Actually, I wish I had a creme brulee. Not just a nickel. And most of these folks think they have to go to a restaurant to get this creamy wonder. But wait no longer- it's actually super simple to make- only 5 ingredients! Although one of my sons got mad at me for "ruining" his desire to have one in a restaurant, by making it so often at home!

What's Cooking with Joni. Writing Class with Joni. Monday, May 27, 2013. Summertime means cool and creamy, so today I'm giving you a super easy go-to dessert that will wow your company. It only has three ingredients. Yes, THREE! And you don't need an ice cream maker, blender, mixer, or sauce pan. Here's a picture:. Here's what you need:. 2 Cups any fruit juice (but trust me, that Dole blend is the best for this). 2 Cups whipping cream (not whipped). Looks great in a goblet, by the way). Electronic or pow...

Okay, time’s up. You’ll never get it: It’s the vibraphone. This is not the same thing as a xylophone. For one thing, xylo means wood, and vibraphone bars are made out of aluminum. Both are hit with mallets, but the vibraphone has an electric motor that creates a vibrato you can’t get with a xylophone. My hand shot up.

Joniopolis: Things I Have Said Into My Fridge

http://jonihilton.blogspot.com/2015/07/things-i-have-said-into-my-fridge.html

Writing Class with Joni. What's Cooking with Joni. Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Things I Have Said Into My Fridge. We’ve all done it. We’ve stood in front of the fridge with the door open, gazing over the offerings as if at a bakery. Except it doesn’t look like a bakery. It looks, depending on the day, cluttered, empty, dull, even sketchy. A plethora of adjectives, but nothing good to eat. You’d think this wouldn’t happen when you love to cook. To be sure, refrigerators are receptacles of mystery. Time to hau...

Writing Class with Joni. What's Cooking with Joni. Tuesday, August 25, 2015. A girlfriend of mine who subscribes to this blog recently asked how so many funny things keep happening to me. I wish I knew. All I know is that I will never run out of material, both a blessing and a curse. Yes, you cannot make this stuff up. Can you imagine what’s going on behind that door? Even if it’s just guinea pigs, believe-you-me, they can create a good bit of mayhem. Trust me; there’s plenty of genetic info online.

I keep taking on impossible projects I am certain will be easier than they actually are. Especially when it comes to sprucing up the house, inside or out. The other day I decided to paint our grandfather clock. Now, before you gasp in horror, or say, “Won’t that diminish its value? It was a blah, brown clock. Here you see it next to our piano:. Then I bathed it in a chemical stripping agent.

Writing Class with Joni. What's Cooking with Joni. Tuesday, July 7, 2015. A funny thing happens when you decide to enter a competition. Even one you begin as a lark. You become, well, competitive. St Bob was asked to help with a Rain Gutter Regatta at work. In case you’ve never heard of this, it’s something Cub Scouts do, similar to their Pinewood Derby, but using little wooden boats that they physically blow to the finish line in a rain gutter. And then it hit me: I have a whole bag of miniature rubber ...

Writing Class with Joni: Rejected!

http://writingclasswithjoni.blogspot.com/2013/12/rejected.html

Writing Class with Joni. What's Cooking with Joni. Monday, December 2, 2013. There are many reasons not to become a writer. Among lack of discipline and absence of talent- two things we could all agree upon—you should not become a writer if you can’t take rejection. Harper Lee once said, “I would advise anyone who aspires to a writing career that before developing his talent he would be wise to develop a thick hide.” And she was right. Rejection is part of the job description. Maybe they need writers wit...

Cooking with John B. Cheffy plating brunchytoasties :-). Posted on February 12, 2016. Took most of the afternoon but I managed to make some triple cooked chips from the Heston at Home book. Think I overdid the first stage where you simmer them a bit, next time will be a bit more gentle and do that stage for a shorter time - I lost quite a lot of the chips at that stage as they were falling apart. Cooking With Josh

About Josh’s Dad. April 20, 2014. OK, confession: this is not a Cooking. Josh recipe. I made this one late last night, long after Josh went to bed, so that it would be ready for Easter morning. This one I would call Cooking With. When I was a kid, my grandmother baked what we always called. Which apparently doesn’t really exist. It’s actually a dialect or two removed from the Neapolitan. Which is dialect for. Supposed to be called. That lives in my memory. 1/4-1/2 cup cold water. 2 lbs ricotta cheese.
