Becky, Archivist | Derbyshire Record Office

https://recordoffice.wordpress.com/author/rebeccasheldon22

What’s in the Wall? Author: Becky, Archivist. A busy week with some interesting finds. As you may know we are constantly adding “new” material to our collections (some of it new, i.e. recent, especially in local studies, and some of it much older). History - Codnor Castle

http://www.codnorcastle.co.uk/history.html

Ghosts of Codnor Farmhouse. Derby Museum Event Jan 28th 2012. Codnor is first mentioned in the doomsday book of 1086 and the manor of Codnor at that time was the property of William Peveril of Peveril Castle at Castleton. This was a long time before the stone castle we see today was built. At the time when William Peveril was lord of the lands of Codnor there would have most likely been a Norman wooden motte and bailey fortification on the site. The Magna Charta document.
