Friday, June 29, 2012. Last week, we had planned to go out to dinner with some colleagues and noticed that many of the shops in our nearby market were closing or already closed. (Late afternoon and evening are the most popular shopping times here because it’s cooler then). We planned to go to one restaurant. It was closed because of protests going on in town. They were protesting the power cuts! If only there were some other way to accomplish this. Check out our photography website!

In South Asia, it is customary to shave a baby's head at one year, so that the baby's hair will be nice and thick as he/she grows older. South Asians tend to have dark, thick, and very beautiful hair! Several people asked me about this. "Will you shave Sienna's hair when she turns 1? Washing it with shampoo. People here don't commonly use conditioner as far as I can tell because I often have a difficult time finding it!

Until recently. Pedestrians here act like they own the road, much like a car would in the U.S. When someone crosses a street, they do so wherever they want, whenever they want, and at whatever speed they want. It all depends on the actually sighting of the moon. The Islamic calender is lunar so that is why the dates of fasting and holidays vary every year.
