An American in Bridgetown. Philosophy and the Caribbean Sea. Friday, February 29, 2008. Day Two: In which I give my paper! Yes, today was the big day - my first paper delivered at a conference. Ever How did it go? Did I freeze up? Was I booed away from the podium? Did I trip over a power cord? Was I raked over the coals in the Q&A session afterwards? Did I fail to realize this until the night before I was scheduled to speak? The answer to those two is, unfortunately, yes. This is how I opened my talk:.

An American in Bridgetown: Bridgetown
http://kelly-in-barbados.blogspot.com/2008/03/bridgetown.html
An American in Bridgetown. Philosophy and the Caribbean Sea. Sunday, March 2, 2008. This statue was built to commemorate the installation of piped water to Barbados's capital on March 29th, 1861. It was lovely, but - the irony! It was bone dry! No water running to this fountain! This monument, on the other hand, was created for a different reason which I've now forgotten. Pretty, though, isn't it? These, if you can believe it, are Barbados's Houses of Parliament. The promenade by the water. I have to admi...

I made my way down to the beach bright and early this morning to meet a few of the remaining philosophers down at the shore by their hotel. The road down to the beach. Finally. the beach! Still, I only had so much time to spend observing the local flora - I wanted to see the sea! My best beach buddy. And some sailboats came by too.

An American in Bridgetown. Philosophy and the Caribbean Sea. Thursday, February 28, 2008. Day One: In which I make many new friends. Welcome to UWI Cave Hill!
