FSGS Sucks: 2015-07-26
http://fsgssucks.blogspot.com/2015_07_26_archive.html
Thursday, July 30, 2015. 1st dose of Ritixumab. The process has OFFICIALLY started! Yesterday, I went to Mayo to have my first dose of Rituximab. We left the house at 5:00am (which was PAINFUL) but made it to Mayo at 7:00am for labs. See how happy we are to be awake? Benadryl is awesome. It makes me SO sleepy. Neither was he when he got to eat the leftovers :). The most exciting thing out the infusion was that I couldn't do dialysis last night. A night of FREEDOM! Unfortunately, I kinda need dialysis for...

FSGS Sucks: Tick tock goes the clock
http://fsgssucks.blogspot.com/2015/07/tick-tock-goes-clock.html
Thursday, July 16, 2015. Tick tock goes the clock. I feel that I have experienced every single second that has passed since my great news 3 weeks ago. I'm still thrilled, but now I'm READY for the next step. I was finally able to get in contact with my donor coordinator this week (she was out on vacation) and she's had a chance to speak with the transplant nephrologist regarding my labs, and it doesn't sound like they were very good. As I understand it, a nephrectomy is probably a 2-month recovery. T...

The Trunk's Junk: Birth Story
http://thetrunksjunk.blogspot.com/p/izzys-birth-story.html
And that helped me focus more. Probably a little more than half an hour had passed, and I asked Erin, “Sooooo, how long and how far apart do these contractions have to be before we go to the hospital? 8221; And she answered, “I usually rely on the mother’s intuition.” And I’m thinking, “Well crap. I have no intuition…that’s what YOU’RE here to help me with! YOU HAVE TO TURN LEFT! 8221; And as soon as he backed up and turned left, my water broke in the car. 8221; And then the urge to push came. I star...

The Trunk's Junk: To catch a leprechaun....
http://thetrunksjunk.blogspot.com/2015/03/to-catch-leprechaun.html
To catch a leprechaun. Izzy had to build a leprechaun trap for St. Patrick's day. We came up with a lot of great ideas, but settled on a trap that the leprechaun would fall into. Of course, we had to entice the leprechaun with lots of green and shiny things. Izzy also decided that leprechauns like orange, which explains the role of orange duct tape that she's cutting. This is Izzy explaining her trap to all of the kids in her class. It was so fun to see all of the creative ideas that the kids had. Th...

The Trunk's Junk: My little Valentine....
http://thetrunksjunk.blogspot.com/2015/02/my-little-valentine.html
We spent Wednesday night making class valentines. Not-so-smart me thought that these little origami fortune-tellers would be fun, and from the kids' perspective they were a hit! However, folding 24 of these and cramming them into envelopes that were clearly designed to fit as snugly as possible around the fortune teller was an exercise in patience ;). And I just had to share this valentime from my dear, sweet little girl. Heart officially liquified. Friday, February 13, 2015. Follow me by Email.

The Trunk's Junk: A trip to Space!
http://thetrunksjunk.blogspot.com/2015/03/a-trip-to-space.html
A trip to Space! We were feeling a bit stir-crazy in the house, and decided to head to the Science Museum of Minnesota. To check out their new "experience". I think this must've been opening weekend, because it took us 45 minutes to get through the line for tickets, and most of the IMAX shows were sold our until later that evening, so we did't get to see that part, but hopefully we'll be able to go back and do that because I LOVE IMAX movies! After leaving the exhibit, you had to walk through another exh...

The Trunk's Junk: The Mitten - Izzy's first play
http://thetrunksjunk.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-mitten-izzys-first-play.html
The Mitten - Izzy's first play. The first graders put on their very first play, and it was called "The Mitten". Izzy played the owl :). I have no idea what her lines were.she had a little case of the nerves and said them so fast that I couldn't understand them. Actually, this happened to most of the kids ;). It was SO fun to see this, and to see how excited she was! She practiced REALLY hard for it and she did a great job! Sunday, January 25, 2015. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Follow me by Email.

FSGS Sucks: So.....when's the big day?
http://fsgssucks.blogspot.com/2015/06/sowhens-date.html
Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Sowhen's the big day? This is a question I get asked daily. Totally makes sense since I got THE BEST NEWS EVER a week ago, but unfortunately, I don't have an answer to THIS question.yet. But I can't do ANY of this until my albumin goes up. Based off of my October labs, this makes sense, because I could go through the process of getting the Rituximab, but I'd just pee it all out. So, here's what the future looks like:. Get labs done at Davita. Wait for what seems like an eternity.
