ACL Rehab Blog

Monday, January 21, 2008. I have started to make real progress today:. I can lift my leg off the ground, i.e. my hips are activated. I can then quad extend about 15 degrees, so my quads are slightly activated. I can ham curl about 30 degrees. And I can walk without crutches in a straight line! Forget 225lb bench presses, I can move my leg! I've been tracking my vitals as well (pre surgery/post surgery):. Body temp: 98.1/99.1. Left knee size: 15"/17.5" (2.5" of swelling! ACL Rehab Blog: Prehab - Part II - Gain Muscle

http://myaclrehab.blogspot.com/2008/01/prehab-part-ii-gain-muscle.html

Sunday, January 13, 2008. Prehab - Part II - Gain Muscle. Now that I had burned off some fat it was time to start adding some muscle. Adding muscle involved Chad Waterbury's patented high frequency training (HFT). The strategy behind HFT is to frequently train muscles that you want to grow, frequently = 4-5x per week. I liked the Waterbury program as it had lots of functional lifts that worked many body parts. Day 1 - 6x3, heavy, 60s rest, alternating. Chin-ups and Front squats. Day 4 - off. Useful ACL R...

ACL Rehab Blog: Prehab - Phase III - Muscle Explosion

http://myaclrehab.blogspot.com/2008/01/prehab-phase-iii-muscle-explosion.html

Sunday, January 13, 2008. Prehab - Phase III - Muscle Explosion. At the end of phase II of the Chad Waterbury 10-10 revolution I had a choice, go to phase III and lose more fat, or try to pile on more muscle before the surgery. Losing fat would have advantages, I'd be healthier, lighter and more mobile going into the surgery. Gaining muscle would help as well given I would lose a lot of muscle in my left leg. Day 1 Morning - 4x4, 60s rest, alternating. BB military press and Front Squart. Day 2 - Off.

Sunday, January 13, 2008. ACL Prehab Strategy and Comments. I used a number of resources in developing my pre-hab strategy:. 1 Personal trainer. I paid for an assessment and 3 sessions with a personal trainer. This was worth its weight in gold. A quick assessment revealed a few things:. I had a torn ACL in my left knee (duh! I had a tight ITB and some patella-femoral cracking in my good knee. I had very weak glutes. I had weak hamstrings. I had tight ankles and limited ankle mobility. Phase I - the diet ...

ACL reconstruction story

49 year old weekend athlete tears ACL skiing, has it surgically repaired. Surgery, rehab, results. I tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in my left knee skiing at Mt. Wachusett. In central Mass. on January 18, 2007. This is a common injury to weekend warriors like myself, so I thought others might like to know what happens once you've done something unfortunate like this to your body. Maybe you've injured yourself too, and feel like the game's over. However, you can. Here's where it started. The re...

My ACL Reconstruction Story

Tuesday, August 9, 2011. I have to just say, that my dr did the most fantastic job. When I prayed and asked for a good surgery, I never anticipated my knee could come out of it in pre-injury shape. But that is just what has happened. And I thank God for it every day! Thursday, July 14, 2011. 4 months post op. I am feeling great! Saturday, April 30, 2011. 2 moonths post op, and I am doing fantastic! Last weekend, I rode a trail ride, and Iwas so sore on my inner thighs! It hurt so GOOD! Out of the woods!
