What's with today, today? Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Just because my blog has been pretty quiet this year doesn't mean you won't get my annual list of books finished for the first time this year! What's with today, today?: October 2014

http://www.phantomday.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

What's with today, today? Wednesday, October 01, 2014. No blog post at all for August is a pretty poor effort (and now September as well! But I have a good excuse, honest! I was away on holidays for a couple of weeks, and between planning and packing and traveling and unpacking I've been kept pretty busy. So what did I do on my holidays you ask? View from the Empire State Building. On a mountain in Whistler. And libraries, and saw books for sale in museum bookshops (the wonderful Tenement Museum. But bey...

What's with today, today?: September 2013

http://www.phantomday.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

What's with today, today? Thursday, September 26, 2013. Books to look forward to. At the moment, I seem to be aiming for around one blog post a month on here. Poor sadly neglected blog! I have been reading as many books as ever, but haven't really felt inspired to write about any of them. So instead, here are some books I'm looking forward to reading:. A Brief History of Montmaray -. And, while I'm sure it can't live up to that standard, it does sound very appealing! But really what caught my attention i...

What's with today, today?: June 2014

http://www.phantomday.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

What's with today, today? Monday, June 30, 2014. Today's post brought to you by the letter. Simon posted a fun meme over at Stuck-in-a-book. The other day- he assigns a random letter and you have to pick some of your favourites that start with that letter. And my letter is N! Number9dream - David Mitchell. Image from Google Books. This book made me really fall in love with the writing of David Mitchell- and still my favourite. Although Cloud Atlas is also amazing! I grew up with Five Children and It.

What's with today, today?: americanah - chimamanda ngozi adichie

http://www.phantomday.blogspot.com/2014/02/americanah-chimamanda-ngozi-adichie.html

What's with today, today? Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Americanah - chimamanda ngozi adichie. I've been meaning to write about this a while, but have been wondering how I can do it justice. The first thing I read by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was this short story online- ' Jumping Monkey Hill. Which I found on A Striped Armchair), and I think it was a good introduction. There are a lot of the same themes that crop up in her novels (at least the two I've read) and especially in Americanah. Is a stand-out book.

Sorry I couldn't make it to your engagement Alex :(. But tonight was a huge amount of fun! Still, I really, really would've liked to make it to you and Alan's engagement *kow-towing* but we left at 1740 and I wouldn't have made it home :(. How was the engagement party though? I hope you like the presents! Now I had so much fun tonight, I...

The Inadvertent Blog: Us and Them

http://inadvertentblog.blogspot.com/2012/07/us-and-them.html

Now with added Emphatic Capitalisation! Friday, July 27, 2012. So I was talking to someone the other day, and apart from being generally very lovely, she said a couple of things which suddenly abruptly reminded me of the gap between her generation and mine. They were jarring enough, in fact, that I'm still not totally sure that she wasn't just trying to get a reaction. And I seriously think it's pretty much equivalent. Why didn't you just say he was a poofter? Man, I don't even like to type words like th...

REVAMPED. Musings out loud. To the attempting to focus on food and drink blog, http:/ www.spuninmorejam.blogspot.com. Sunday, October 30, 2005. Fish markets. *drool*. I worked out why I could never post, I have 2 accounts, one is minervaqm and the real one is minerva qm. So I kept logging into minervaqm and getting an empty dashboard. Ahha! http://inadvertentblog.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Now with added Emphatic Capitalisation! Sunday, December 23, 2012. So, today's post is motivated by the same thing which usually motivates the first post after an accidental long blog hiatus: I discussed blogs with someone and they were all "oh, you have a blog? I should check it out! And even though you know people basically never follow through on that sort of thing, you're all "maybe I'll check if my last post is any good, juuuuust in case! Act first, think/reflect later. Think/reflect first, then Act.

Dispatches from the wilds of Spenceria. The travelogue of a wandering mind. Dispatches from the wilds of Proseambique – Narcissus. Is it either, if I’m still alive afterwards? Contrary to what you may believe, the past cannot be changed, even with time travel. Oh, you can try, but all you really do is cross over into a parallel universe – one that bursts into existence the moment you step back; one where your presence in the past, and the change you made, are simply how it. Now with added Emphatic Capitalisation! Wednesday, June 27, 2012. Pressure zones and precipitation and what have you. It's sort of funny actually. Remember when you were a kid, and you went on long drives in the evening, like coming home after a big day at the zoo, or driving back from a holiday? Remember when you used to pretend to be asleep when you got home, pretend that you hadn't woken up in the backseat when the car had pulled in the driveway, so your parents would carry you in to bed?
