Tofuball's Reading

A collection of interesting stories. Monday, March 21, 2011. Some frustrations in charity work. Sometimes there are emergency calls for donations - if a freezer goes down at a store, a ton of ground beef or frozen chickens have to be picked up and immediately transferred to the donation distribution site before they thaw. To this day I don't understand that event, or those similar. I had naively assumed people would be supportive, but things like this actually happen frequently. Posted by Jason Viw.

Tofuball's Reading: My Own Story, Part 3: One Nagging Question

http://readingtofu.blogspot.com/2008/08/my-own-story-part-3-one-nagging.html

A collection of interesting stories. Wednesday, August 6, 2008. My Own Story, Part 3: One Nagging Question. This is part three, click here for part two. I met his kids, four of them (I don't know about you, but that's a lot of kids), and they struck me as odd, I couldn't quite put my finger on why. I graduated high school in 2000, and still worked for the school system, and I didn't usually meet kids as well behaved and bright as this. I'm more used to them being cynical, or more often, stupid. Tofuball's Reading: Personal fun facts

http://readingtofu.blogspot.com/2010/12/personal-fun-facts.html

A collection of interesting stories. Monday, December 6, 2010. FYI, in my past I:. 1) was hit by lightning. 2) have had brake cleaner, rust, soldering flux, and a liquid-core peppermint in my eye (not all at the same time). 3) was electrocuted to the point of throwing a circuit breaker (I interrupted an Uninterruptible Power Supply on a badly grounded rack). 4) have owned over 50 cars in the last few years, and the shortest time between buying and selling a car was 2 hours. Post it in the comments! 2) My...

A collection of interesting stories. Wednesday, August 6, 2008. Welcome to Tofuball's Reading. I created this blog so I could keep the stories I wrote separate from my worklog. As the two topics are quite different. I intend to post both truth and fiction that I write here, but I don't know how much fiction I have left in me :) Enjoy! Posted by Jason Viw. Tofuball's Reading: My Own Story, Part 1: The End of the Mustang

A collection of interesting stories. Wednesday, August 6, 2008. My Own Story, Part 1: The End of the Mustang. Now, enters the catalyst, a Pontiac Sunfire, cutting off a semi-truck from a merge lane. A Lexus cut in front of me to dodge this mess, I hit the brakes hard, and the Mustang pitched right. The brakes were adjusted wrong. I cursed. Time stopped. Why was this so depressing? I thought, "This is it? Click here for part 2. Posted by Jason Viw. Labels: My Own Story. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Tofuball's Working: Attic Mayhem

http://workingtofu.blogspot.com/2009/06/attic-mayhem.html

The construction, repair and modification of anything from a house to a car. With as little money as possible. No, none of this has anything to do with tofu. Friday, June 19, 2009. 1) Vent the attic, get that hot air out of there. This is also important for keeping moisture out of the attic. If you have mold, mildew, and rusting nails in the attic, it's probably not venting moisture well enough. 2) Insulate the attic, or separating your living area from the inferno over your head. You have a lot of optio...

The construction, repair and modification of anything from a house to a car. With as little money as possible. No, none of this has anything to do with tofu. Monday, June 30, 2008. Working on the basement walls . . . The old wall definitely had to come down. First we dug the loose dirt out from behind it, and covered the packed dirt with cement to hold it in place while we were working. The cinder block wall you see on the upper half of the above picture is the actual foundation for the house. You can se...

Ceiling Fans: The Hanging Menace. Here in Maryland it was dry, windy and freezing only a few weeks ago, now the mercury has climbed above 90 degrees, the wind stopped, and the humidity hit the point where you only have to inhale if you want a drink of water. The construction, repair and modification of anything from a house to a car. With as little money as possible. No, none of this has anything to do with tofu. Thursday, September 10, 2009. HOW TO DO IT:. Mix 1 cup coffee grounds to 4.5 cups water. Stir it every so often till the grounds become saturated and sink to the bottom. Let it sit for 8 hours (a lot like sun tea). Filter it (I stick a wire strainer over a pot and put a paper towel in it). Store it in the fridge for whenever you want coffee.

The construction, repair and modification of anything from a house to a car. With as little money as possible. No, none of this has anything to do with tofu. Thursday, January 22, 2009. Working on the basement walls, part 2. Well, it was time to replace the left wall of the house. It's the same as what we did in part 1. Except one of the walls had to come really close to the original foundation of the house. Because of that I shall be brief with the comments. Another picture of the same, different angle.

The construction, repair and modification of anything from a house to a car. With as little money as possible. No, none of this has anything to do with tofu. Thursday, March 24, 2011. First, let's go over why the factory flywheel is so heavy. Manufacturers put weight on the outside (perimeter) of the flywheel to increase the moment of inertia. Check out a picture of a factory flywheel here. The effect on MPG is probably very small, you'll drop some MPG if you have to raise your idle, you'll gain some if ...

Reading to Destroy

You can not consider themselves well-rounded if you do not read. If this sounds elitist, blow me. Essentially, this is a report of the books I've read since the beginning of 2008 and on. So read what I tell you to because I'm smarter than you. Just to give you a point of reference when I'm discussing different works, it might help if you got a smattering of an idea of my tastes. Haruki Murakami is by far my favorite author. I picked up The Wind Up Bird Chronicles. View my complete profile. By Mark Millar...
