The Van Re-build: Insulation Continued (Part 2) | Zoe and the World

https://riverchick.wordpress.com/2012/09/10/vanrebuild_part2

Zoe and the World. The mis-adventures of a girl, a dog, and a van. The Van Re-build: Insulation Continued (Part 2). Next, I used the pieces of Reflectix from Version 1 and re-attached them over the window cut-outs, trimming the edges so they fit more snugly in the recess. Then I covered the seam with aluminum tape, made especially for Reflectix and sold in the insulation isle at Home Depot. Cellulose insulation: $10.97. 48″x25′ Reflectix roll: $42.42. Reflectix foil tape (x2): $6.50. You’ve been so...

A Dog Day at Lake Mary, Arizona | Zoe and the World

https://riverchick.wordpress.com/2012/06/22/lake-mary-arizona

Zoe and the World. The mis-adventures of a girl, a dog, and a van. A Dog Day at Lake Mary, Arizona. Zoe and Mars on Upper Lake Mary, Flagstaff, AZ. Since working was my goal in coming to Flagstaff, I am definitely achieving it! Although we were working in brutal heat and I got dehydrated pretty quickly. Mars tried to chase after Zoe, who ran around frantically, absorbing all the amazing wildlife scents around us, but he usually gave up after 20-30 feet. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Road Trippin’ with my Sistah | Zoe and the World

https://riverchick.wordpress.com/2012/05/25/road-trippin-with-my-sistah

Zoe and the World. The mis-adventures of a girl, a dog, and a van. Road Trippin’ with my Sistah. Since I decided to head back to Flagstaff, AZ to work for the summer, I started planning my second cross-country trek. This time I convinced my sister to drive out with me and fly back from Arizona. Sunday: North Carolina to Atlanta to Memphis. We headed out of town to make camp for the night, checking out a casino/race track (where there is often RV parking). It didn’t look/feel good so we kept on, final...

Contemplating the Van set-up | Zoe and the World

https://riverchick.wordpress.com/2012/09/03/contemplating-the-van-set-up

Zoe and the World. The mis-adventures of a girl, a dog, and a van. Contemplating the Van set-up. I have spent the summer working in Flagstaff and Zoe and I have been living in the guest room of my friend and boss. It has been great to unpack the van, sleep in a real (queen-sized) bed, and have a bathroom next door that I don’t have to put shoes on to use! My dream van set-up. And so, Project Van Re-Build begins! My plan is to add another layer of thin insulation over the walls, probably cover the walls w...

The Van Re-build: Insulation & Lighting (Part 1) | Zoe and the World

https://riverchick.wordpress.com/2012/09/09/vanrebuild_part1

Zoe and the World. The mis-adventures of a girl, a dog, and a van. The Van Re-build: Insulation and Lighting (Part 1). My 2011 US travel journal is still MIA, keep crossing my fingers it shows up somewhere, someday.). Long-lost river trip journal that has been missing for a year! Found when I gutted the van for the re-build. So my next task was to clean! My first attempt at insulation in the previous van version was as follows:. 2 Glue Reflectix insulation on top of that. For Version Two of the van build...

Marketing … of sorts 23 November 2010. 8212; mjcassidy @ 11:09 am. In every developing country I visit, there are 12-15 passenger minibus vehicles (aka bush taxi) that plow the busy streets to pick up passengers. Ghana – Tro Tro or Lorry. Below is a collection of photos with messages that I like plus a list of other messages that I saw but was not able to catch with the camera. IN YOUR BEST INTEREST. PCV Be...

Individualism and Family … oxymoron? 8212; mjcassidy @ 10:33 pm. My grandfather said something interesting at dinner tonight. 8220;Individualism is so rampant that it’s unfortunate people have to be part of a family.”. A sad (but true) statement. As nutty as my family is, I wish we spent more time together and lived closer. I wished we placed more value on community and dependence on one another. New flavor of Pringles. 8212; mjcassidy @ 3:30 pm. Filed under: Washington DC. 8212; mjcassidy @ 9:13 pm.

Excursion out of Kampala 7 November 2010. 8212; mjcassidy @ 2:47 am. Uganda, East Africa. Last Saturday, I took a short excursion out of Kampala to where the equator crosses the road, which is not all that exciting actually but its nice to get out of the city … even if just for a few hours. Local stools for sale on the side of the road. Drums for sale (I actually bought a few). The sun can be brutal. Standing the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. African masks for sale. Headed back to Kampala.

Homecoming 2 November 2010. 8212; mjcassidy @ 5:31 am. I forgot how much I love Georgia football games … especially when we win! I love the spirit of gameday. Tailgating with friends. A sea of red and black. Students with painted chests and red afro wigs. The red coat band spelling out G-E-O-R-G-I-A. Glory glory to old Georgia … I won’t wait so long to come back! Oh, and when did Athens get a Taqueria del Sol? No wonder Mexicali is nearly out of business.🙂. 2 Responses to “Homecoming”. PCV Becky in Togo.

Zoe and the World. The mis-adventures of a girl, a dog, and a van. So you wanna raft the Grand Canyon? Step 1: Win the Permit Lottery. The truth is that you can absolutely plan such a trip and I will help make it easy. As someone with three trips in three years (or in one month, four trips in four years), I frequently get asked how to plan the trip or how to start the process. I planned my first trip with 61 days’ noticewith ZERO previous experience. If I did it, you can, too! Well worth the effort!

RiverChilde | Playing in the waters of the Word

Playing in the waters of the Word. December 19, 2015. I wish you a reconciled Christmas. In my last post, I mused about the idea of Advent and Christmas as a time of reconciliation, and I wanted to share some further ideas I’ve had on this topic. I’ve thought about how when we demand to see what God is doing about the mess that humans have created, we are harkening back to God’s. How can they understand this God of reconciliation unless (as the Ethopian eunuch said in Acts 8) someone guides them? We don&...

Riverchilde: Wandering and Wondering | An exploration of experiential learning, the church and the 21st century

Riverchilde: Wandering and Wondering. An exploration of experiential learning, the church and the 21st century. December 13, 2015. Seeking the Word of God. I had a nightmare last night. I was seeking solace in the Word of God, so I went to a church. I entered the big door by the stained-glass window, and discovered that the building’s original sanctuary orientation had been shifted. What had been distinguishable from the outside as a front door was now a side entrance. I went in search of someone who mig...
