Run, Théoden, Run: November 2011
http://obsruntheoden.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Run, Théoden, Run. Covering the Charlotte running scene, one stride at a time. Tuesday, November 8, 2011. I'm probably not the luckiest man on the planet, but as the New York City Marathon lottery goes, I've got a pretty good batting average. Then New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg addressed the masses over the P.A. system, a woman sang "The Star Spangled Banner," the cannons fired, and Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" rang out as we started heading up the two-mile-long bridge. I ignored the cardinal r...

Run, Théoden, Run: April 2013

Run, Théoden, Run. Covering the Charlotte running scene, one stride at a time. Monday, April 22, 2013. From tragedy, runner emerges with new resolve. Demi Clark, 1/4-mile from the finish last Monday. It's Sunday night. I just tucked my kids into bed, almost identically to the way I have every night of their short first- and third-grade lives. Kisses, plus a hug, and an "I love you." The only addition - which has been part of the routine since Monday, April 15 - "Do you all feel safe tonight? And countles...

My So-Called Jogging Life: A sprint written as a sprint
http://marcsjogblog.blogspot.com/2012/08/a-sprint-written-as-sprint.html
My So-Called Jogging Life. Sunday, August 26, 2012. A sprint written as a sprint. I’ve decided that since the Lake Norman Tri I just did is a sprint, I’d do my write up in sprint format. Short and quick sentences. Though after looking at it, it does look sort of like how I picture a dog would write it up. Anyways here goes;. Swim Swim. Ouch, who kicked me? Swim Ouch, who kicked me? Ouch, who kicked me? Son of a * * , hey, move over. There’s no room. Where’s the buoy? Ouch, who kicked me? Move over, dude.

My So-Called Jogging Life: March 2012
http://marcsjogblog.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
My So-Called Jogging Life. Friday, March 9, 2012. The Rock N Roll New Orleans Marathons. They say the marathon is the type of race that can change in the blink of an eye. Your months of training and preparation can disappear because of a twist of an ankle or even a slight change in the weather. Weather can change just like that and derail all of your preparations. Which explains why Jo and I were in a Walmart in new Orleans at 9:30pm the night before the marathon. Nice shirt, except for the white color.

My So-Called Jogging Life: January 2011

My So-Called Jogging Life. Thursday, January 27, 2011. The Most Magical Place on Earth.as long as you don't want to PR. As it's been almost 3 weeks since the Marathon (2 weeks of flu and knee pain), I wanted to get SOMETHING out here, so here's my first run through with pictures, lots of them. Spaceship Earth with the monorail lines in the foreground. To infinity.and beyond! The start from my angle. The flames look nice and toasty. And then it was down to the business of actually running the marathon.

My So-Called Jogging Life: December 2010
http://marcsjogblog.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
My So-Called Jogging Life. Sunday, December 19, 2010. The sun rises over the frozen North Pole as the Elves awaken. Oh, wait, we're in North Carolina, it just FEELS like the North Pole. After doing my 19 on Friday, I wasn't sure about what I was going to do Saturday. I knew I'd want to take it easy and go short. After seeing that a bunch of DART. Ers were going to be at the Mt Mourne VFD Elf 5K, I figured I'd head over there at least to cheer, plus Jo decided that she'd run. The course heads out from the...

My So-Called Jogging Life: May 2011
http://marcsjogblog.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
My So-Called Jogging Life. Monday, May 16, 2011. Since I hurt myself at Disney I haven’t been able to run 2 days in a row. Trying to take it easy and give myself time to recover in between runs. But last weekend there were 2 back to back races for 2 good causes. And since they were only 5K’s I figured I’d give it a shot. Plus, there’s also the fact that 1). I just wanted to see how my knee was going to be. In the list of horrible, brutal diseases, Battens’ Disease has to rank pretty high up there. Tim Ri...

It's been a month since I've updated and no, I haven't quit the Couch-to-5k program. I did have a few minor setbacks, but recently had some major breakthroughs also. Before I get to that I have to share with you an experience I had at a local store called Run For Your Life. Several of my patients told me about them (thank you Darcy!
