Guide to Urban Farming Since 2009. June 17, 2014. We started step five in February when my dad came to assist us. He framed the wall and hung a few pieces of drywall. I then had to frame in a window, finish drywalling, mudding taping sanding, paint, move doors. It took weeks. WEEEEKS. I refinished my kitchen in 9 days. This took weeks. I never want to see drywall mud again. I also added a cute pennant border and made a sweet roman shade complete with pom pom trim. The biggest challenge was the light fixt...

Indoor Project: Mason Jar Chandelier | Sprouting Off

http://www.sproutingoff.com/indoor-project-mason-jar-chandelier

Guide to Urban Farming Since 2009. Indoor Project: Mason Jar Chandelier. March 13, 2012. I saw something on somewhere (probably Pinterest) and followed a link somewhere else and somehow landed on a link for this mason jar chandelier. Then I did a google search for a way to make it myself. I found this article. Not sure if I could create such a thing myself or find all of the parts I turned to my favorite site for all things hand crafted. I found this one. Bits you’ll need:. 1 1/2″ screws. Saw (I have a c...

Guide to Urban Farming Since 2009. Seasonal Flower Alliance: 6.5.14. June 5, 2014. The Spring is a very busy time for me and I hadn’t gotten around to scheduling my time with Rainier Glass Studio. I also noticed it expired the Tuesday after Mother’s Day. My husband, being the awesome guy he is called and got me in Mother’s Day afternoon. Talk about a fabulous day and great experience. I’m still in love with stocks. The fragrance is outstanding. The bowl I created is not lopsided at all. Most of my bl...

Guide to Urban Farming Since 2009. Seasonal Flower Alliance: 6.12.14. June 12, 2014. This week I have been so busy I did not get the opportunity to photograph the arrangement for my own table. It was another sweet pink creation. The only arrangement I did photograph was one that went to one of my “customers.” I snapped a quick cell phone pic for Instagram. Therefore it is becoming my arrangement for this Thursday. Besides, they look fabulous with the sunny iceland poppies. In Bloom This Week. So pretty a...

Guide to Urban Farming Since 2009. June 17, 2014. Last September my husband scored himself an incredible career opportunity. The Tacoma Kitchen Garden Journal: March 2013

http://tacomakitchengarden.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

The Tacoma Kitchen Garden Journal. Grow your own food from seed to harvest to table. Monday, March 25, 2013. Here's a list of what we've accomplished so far this year:. Ordered 7 yards of bark to refresh the landscaping (only moved about 2% of it). Reinforced our fencing around the veggie garden to keep the pup out. Built a "composting fence.". Pruned our apple trees. Taught two workshops for our community garden. Espalier Pruning and Seed Starting. Planted horseradish for the first time. That's about al...

A Life Content: July 2010

http://mysimplycomfortablelife.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Finding my way as an empty nester. Saturday, July 31, 2010. Here comes the tomatoes! Every morning I water the garden and scan the tomato plants. We've got a bonanza of flowers, and the fruit is coming in slowly. This morning I was thrilled to spot a flash of red deep inside one of the plants (specifically on our heirloom Surpice). Now I don't put my hand inside of any of the plants - it's too risky. I might come in contact with a spider, or (god forbid) a slug. Can't wait for the rest of them to arrive!

A Life Content: Home Made Tortillas

http://mysimplycomfortablelife.blogspot.com/2011/06/home-made-tortillas.html

Finding my way as an empty nester. Tuesday, June 21, 2011. I love flour tortillas, Paul loves corn, and since I do the shopping guess which one we usually have in our fridge? Lately we've been eating corn tortillas. I don't know what it is about commercial corn tortillas, but they suck! So I decided to make my own. I went to my computer, typed corn tortillas and viola! 2,150,000 entries just waiting for me to view: definitions, images, recipes, blogs, videos - amazing! Corn Tortillas (makes 8 tortillas).

http://mysimplycomfortablelife.blogspot.com/2012/03/sometimes-laundry-is-just-laundry.html

Finding my way as an empty nester. Thursday, March 8, 2012. Sometimes the laundry is just the laundry. However, I found that I could ignore it. Not only ignore it - I could come to resent it, loathe it, and make it the poster child for everything wrong with my life! There are three other people (men! In this house, and they bore brunt of my fierce, albeit silent, resentment. How can they miss the big blue clothes basket filled with their clothes! They weren't even mine! Why do I have to take care of them?

Finding my way as an empty nester. Sunday, June 26, 2011. June 26th: Where were you 12 years ago? So last night we're talking with my mom on the phone as we're heading home from the Urban Arts Festival, and all of a sudden I ask them what the date is. They tell me it's the 25th, and I turned to Paul and asked if he knew what tomorrow was. He said, "Sunday? And I start laughing when I say, yeah, but it's also our wedding anniversary - we forgot all about it! Tuesday, June 21, 2011. The ingredients are so ...

http://mysimplycomfortablelife.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Finding my way as an empty nester. Tuesday, December 7, 2010. Cut it off, Missy! A couple months ago I posted a list. Of things I want to do before I turn 50. Well, today I get to cross an item off the list - I had my hair cut super short! Had the honor of cutting off my ragged mane of hair. I sent her pictures of what I was looking for, but other than that it was up to her to create a style for me. She said it was the most fun she's had in a while. Along with my new hairstyle (which I love!

http://mysimplycomfortablelife.blogspot.com/2014/06/a-hothouse-update.html

Finding my way as an empty nester. Monday, June 23, 2014. A few weeks ago I wrote about building a hothouse for my hot peppers, (you can read about it here. And thought it was about time for an update. I've been monitoring three jalapeno plants. One plant I put in the hothouse that I built, one I placed in the commercial hothouse, and the other I left out in the open. They all started out around 8 1/2" tall. The plant on the left was kept outside in the elements. The plant in the middle was stored in...

Finding my way as an empty nester. Thursday, March 8, 2012. I can't believe it's been almost a year since I've posted anything. I've been busy, and could have blogged about many things but for some reason I didn't. Well that's not entirely true. I know I didn't because I'm pretty sure no one is reading my blog so I thought why go through all the trouble? So what have I been up to? Okay, so that's about it for the catch-up. Talk to you soon! Finding my way as an empty nester. Sunday, June 8, 2014. Alex, a Strawberry Field, and Freezer Jam. Saturday morning was bright, sunny, and warm. A perfect day to pick strawberries! We invited our grand-nephew Alex, and his parents, to come along. Alex just turned two, and he loves to do tasks! At home he makes his own bed, feeds the dogs, and picks up his own toys - can you believe it? I don't know if he's telling me to clean his hands, or stop taking pictures! Look at that beauty! It was a great day at...
