Tuesday, December 16, 2008. I don't think India is going to make me happy or fulfilled either, it's just a step in the right life path direction. The logistics of the plan are well in order. I have the plane tickets. Our visas were just finished, and I am hoping to get to the visa office off of Dupont Circle tomorrow to pick them up. Friday, November 28, 2008. I contend that my mom’s gingersnap recipe makes some of the best cookies in holiday circulation. Of the myriad baked goods and confectioneries that accompany the fall and winter, these spiced cookies are amongst the most classic, simple, and comforting indulgences. Staples of fall and winter seasonal fare. Ginger, of course, is a root the flesh of which has a distinctive and pungent kick to it. The cultivation and use of it in food and medicine began in India and southeast Asia.

Tuesday, March 31, 2009. So, today I learned how to drive the tractor. It was pretty easy, but it's something I'm proud to say now is part of my life. Basically, I had to move a whole lot of compost and dirt around, having something to do with planting peonies. Below are some peonies just coming up. They kind of look like strange mushrooms to me. In addition to flowers, there are a few animals here on the farm: a dog named Lady, two cats named Disco and Max, and a flock of chickens, 8 hens and one rooste...

Thursday, March 12, 2009. 50 Years of Freedom Struggle. During our time here in Darjeeling we've been witness to various events surrounding the 50 th. Anniversary of the uprising in Lhasa, Tibet that resulted in the exile of the Dalai. That evening, where the people placed their candles on the paved ground spelling out the letters "Save Tibet" in fire. Then everyone in the massive gathering let out a song, maybe a Tibetan anthem though I'm not sure. But rather a Tibetan face. Straight from the Farm.
