Hill | Touring NH

Where I’ve been so far. The parking area at the Hill Village Store is quite large, which is probably a good thing. From there, you can go into the post office or the store and you can read the historical marker, all without having to move your vehicle…. My first thoughts after reading the marker was “Really! They picked a town and decided to use it as a flood control area? Didn’t they care about the people living there? Why Hill and not neighboring Northfield or Andover? And some old favorites…. Gives us...

Where I’ve been so far. I love “Welcome” signs. Some towns use their welcome sign to promote certain highlights in the town while others simply announce you have arrived. I doubt they could make a sign large enough to highlight all Sandwich has to offer! It has been nearly seven weeks since I was there, but Sandwich definitely made an impression on me! I knew before I left Newfound RV Park. Has year round parking and access to several of the trails. The sun was finally starting to break through the cloud...

Where I’ve been so far. I was driving along a dirt road, coming from Groton. Unsure if I would know when I crossed the town line, when I found this lovely welcoming sign…. Most of the time, when I am on back roads, all I see is the marker placed by the state. A vertical sign, green with white lettering and I frequently miss them. Clearly the folks in Dorchester are proud to announce you have arrived! Dorchester has a beautiful historic district…. The little red school house. June 29, 2015 at 12:01 pm.

Where I’ve been so far. Newly leafed out trees aren’t the only way to tell Spring has arrived. Lilac bushes filled with lovely purple, pink or white flowers beckon us closer with their sweet scent…. Village School circa 1850. As Steve and I toured Alexandria, we commented to each other about the wonderful combination of old and new. Old buildings and barns blended perfectly with newer buildings and barns…. Alexandria is home to The Appalachian Mountain Club Cardigan Lodge and Reservation. I later learned...

Danbury | Touring NH

Where I’ve been so far. I still ended up with almost a 100 pictures. So, I’m not going to put all 100 of them in this post, but it is going to be a little longer than usual. So, without any further of my musings, welcome to Danbury…. I’m going to begin with how I ended my tour. While I was checking out Danbury, I passed a sign for Reuben’s Rescue Ranch. Reuben welcomes the newcomers. Tiny spies the feed and wants the ducks to share with him. You can see the thrift store in the background. Dawn on the Farm.
