uncle travelling Mac: February 2005

http://www.uncletravellingmac.blogspot.com/2005_02_01_archive.html

Dom's Travels 2004 - 2005. Tuesday, February 15, 2005. South Island Road Trip. South Island road trip. Here are some pictures from my mini road trip round the South Island:. Wildlife, walking and kayaking. A couple of days ago I met up with Phil (a kiwi I know from London) and he took me on a tour round Auckland's neighbourhoods. We live about half an hour's walk from each other, which is pretty close considering Auckland covers a bigger area than London. Posted by Dominic @ 10:22 AM 0 comments.

Dom's Travels 2004 - 2005. Friday, July 30, 2004. I've been travelling around quite a bit since Hoi An. I spent a few days in Hue. And met a couple of nice people. Dung. From Hue I caught an overnight train up to Hanoi; really plush and air conditioned. There were 16 people on the tour, mostly 20 something couples and a few single blokes, including Steve. Another medical student who I've kept bumping into since Hue. Halong bay is a collection of thousands of mini limestone islands. Some of them with caves.

Your man in Amsterdam. Saturday, July 21, 2007. How to add a WeatherPixie to your Facebook Profile Page. The weather information comes from a public database of airport weather stations so with any luck there's one not far from you. Add the application to your profile. Your man in Amsterdam. Wednesday, May 09, 2007. You might have heard of Joost. the idea is to distribute TV shows to the masses using the internet. I haven't got an account yet so I'm not exactly sure how it works but I bet we'll be hearing lots more about this service in the next few months. your man in Amsterdam: latest from the dam

http://yourmaninamsterdam.blogspot.com/2005/11/latest-from-dam.html

Your man in Amsterdam. Tuesday, November 29, 2005. Latest from the dam. Autumn has been fun in Amsterdam; I went to the wildlife sanctuary to meet Linda's colleagues and some of the people who look after them. it's an amazing place, on a peninsula in the middle of a big park. they have plenty of different animals; some I wasn't allowed to get too close to, like this bird of prey. Next was Halloween, in which we stayed in and carved a pumpkin. brought back good memories :). We went Haarlem at the weekend ...

Your man in Amsterdam. Thursday, November 17, 2005. Google does it again. I'm becoming more of a google fan all the time. On Monday they started giving away enterprise quality web analytics for free. What the hell does that mean? If you've got a website, quite alot. It means that you can find out really detailed information about traffic arriving at your website. I mean more detailed than alot of big companies have been using until now. Http:/ www.google.com/analytics. Has some interesting observations.

Your man in Amsterdam. Monday, October 31, 2005. Pocket sized smartphone with a touchscreen and stylus? This isn't a technology blog but there's one thing that's been annoying me for ages in the world of gadgets and i thought i'd register my gripe somewhere. For ages I've been waiting for a device that will combine a PDA with a mobile phone in a way that makes sense. My requirements are simple:. It has to synch with my laptop. Fit in my pocket. And have a touch screen (with a pen / stylus). It's strange ...

Your man in Amsterdam. Tuesday, September 13, 2005. And it's been a pretty eventful summer too. I turned 30 and bought a boat to celebrate. My mum got married during the Edinburgh Festival, my cousin Yves got married too, my best mate got engaged. And it's not over yet - the sun's out and there are still tomatoes to harvest. I've been meaning to put up photos since before August but never quite got around to it, by the time I have written the rest of this post they'll be uploaded. Links to this post:.

your man in Amsterdam: christmas and new year

http://yourmaninamsterdam.blogspot.com/2006/01/christmas-and-new-year.html

Your man in Amsterdam. Sunday, January 01, 2006. Christmas and new year. Bring your own fireworks. Man blows up boat. Man blows up boat again. It's tricky trying to make these into a coherent story. it began sometime late in December when we finally finished the jigsaw; so, having finished work, we packed up our presents and flew to ireland on christmas eve. First stop, the pub - for a pint of Guiness. Posted by Dominic @ 3:07 pm. Thank you for the informative blog. If you or your readers are interested.

Your man in Amsterdam. Wednesday, September 13, 2006. It's not all Heineken and hedonism. Yes, we have been working pretty hard; not just in our jobs - Agata has been demanding plenty of attention. The hull took all winter to fix up, grinding, welding and painting. Here are some pics of her in the jachthaven (boatyard):. Plenty of work to do at home too, getting ready to plant this years crops. Wednesday, November 12, 2008. Two enlightening conversations with a Kindergartner at my school:. Him: Um, excuse me, but are ghosts real? Me: What do you think? H: I think they are just real in your head. I don't believe in ghosts. H: But I believe in god. And I believe in skeletons cuz they're inside your body. M: Ok That's good. He nods with satisfaction and walks away.). Me: What are you drawing? Him: It's me playing. It's what I like to play when I'm alone. M: What is that coming out of your neck?

Stuck in Korea

Thursday, July 05, 2007. Well Summer's here in Sokcho. Monday morning, blazing sunshine. All the way through to Friday afternoon, then it's miserable drizzly-type rain till sunset on Sunday. Just like last Summer, except without the landslides and death. Oh, if you don't read the news, lots of people died in Korea last year because of landslides. and death, which is the number one killer of people all over the world. I read it in a book. So, what else can I say about life here in Sokcho? Somewhere out th...

Installed Feisty Fawn Xubuntu (and above) on a Toshiba 325CDS. It kept hanging at the initramfs prompt. Basically it apparently wasn't loading the ide-generic module. Because at the prompt i was able to type. After the modprobe you could then ls /dev/disk which has all the new UUID stuff i guess. Anyway, after the "exit" the boot continued normally.
